FAQs

What will I learn and gain?

  • We will clear up the mystery as to why you do what you do.

  • We will explore the root cause of your problem and teach you how to solve it.

  • As we work together, you will find you are able to coach yourself to train your brain to think/feel/behave differently.

  •  You will learn how to follow through on your commitments, navigate obstacles and pick yourself up after setbacks. You will increase your resilience  and feel better faster.

  • You will eliminate the constant chatter and negotiating in your head.

  • You will stop wasting your precious energy on this “problem.”

How often and how long are sessions?

I typically meet with clients once per week for a 55 minute session.

Why do you require a minimum of six sessions for new clients?

I ask my clients to commit to a minimum of six sessions so they can experience real transformation that only comes with time and practice. These ideas need to incubate in the brain before they can be integrated into new thoughts, feelings and behaviors. Learning something intellectually is nice but we are shooting for real change. Once clients have become familiar with my work, they often will do 12 sessions because they start seeing progress and want to go deeper.  Once a client has had six sessions with me, they can schedule single sessions.

I’ve tried a lot of things, how is this different?

Most available remedies up until now have focused on using willpower. What we’ve found is that we can sometimes make progress using willpower but it doesn’t last. My approach works at a causal level. I teach you how your brain works so we can change your current programming to align with a new result.

Is there anyone this work isn’t right for?

Most people can benefit in some way from learning these tools; however, if you have a diagnosed eating disorder or physical addiction to alcohol or other substance (meaning without it you experience tremors, shakes or feel physically ill), please contact your physician to determine your best course of action.

How do you conduct your sessions?

I mostly use Zoom video but sessions can be conducted over the phone with great success too.

What is your rescheduling policy?

When you become my client, our sessions will be a top priority on your calendar.  It’s part of the work. Can you decide to prioritize this work and honor your decision which is in your best interest-- no matter what?

Who benefits from this work? Am I a good fit?

You will benefit if…

  • it seems like you can never stick with a well hatched plan that is in your long term best interest

  • you are brimming over with knowledge and information but still can’t seem to affect change

  • your eating patterns sometimes feel out of your control

  • your drinking patterns feel like both a pleasant reward and a growing concern

  • you’ve tried to stop X (fill in the blank) and just can’t make it last

How does your approach differ from therapy?

Therapists are trained to diagnose and create a treatment plan based on the diagnosis. They have extensive education in helping people who aren’t functioning well daily, or have mental illness, addiction, abuse, trauma, etc. My coaching approach helps people who are functioning well daily but feel stuck mentally or emotionally. An analogy I find helpful is that you would consult a physician to reset your broken arm but you would seek out a physical therapist or trainer to help you strengthen your arm muscles.

Do you provide any assistance in between sessions?

Yes. My clients have access to me via email 24/7. I answer questions within 24 hours.
